ELLEN MERKIN, O.D.

Dr. Ellen Merkin is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. Having graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology, she then went on to earn her degree in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1984. Dr. Merkin did her optometric internships at the Seattle Indian Health Hospital and San Diego Naval Base. While attending Optometry School, she participated in a six-week Optometric Outreach Program, examining people in the small villages of Peru. Her senior thesis project won her the Brock Vision Therapy Award. Dr Merkin has been in private practice in Las Vegas for twenty years and is affiliated with both the Nevada Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. In her spare time, Dr Merkin is also involved in various community activities including Nevada Clay Guild, Polymer Clay Guild, and the Bottles of Hope. She is fully certified in the treatment of eye diseases and disorders.
